Andrew Peter Clement Chesterman (born 1946, London, United Kingdom) is an English scholar based in Finland. Afterwards he studied Applied Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh, obtaining an Master of Letters in 1973, and was awarded a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Reading in 1988. In 1968, Chesterman moved to Finland and has been there ever since. He was mainly based at the University of Helsinki.
